![]() They could remember how simple it was back when they used it, and then how obnoxious it was to place phone calls when they lost the functionality. My guess is some older people in IT who used to use PTT back when they worked Tier 1 support and are now in higher desk roles are the actual ones who suggested this as a solution. You could do that with one hand while standing on a ladder and not even have to glance at your phone. ![]() You used to be able to hit a button on the top of the phone for the recent call list, and then press the PTT button. Then waiting for them to see it, and do the same thing on the other end. You need to ask your co worker hey which port was I supposed to plug this cable into again? You can send a text but that requires pulling out your phone, unlocking the screen, opening up the application, finding them in the list, and then typing out the message. If someone chirps you all you have to do is grab the phone and press the button to answer them. You needed to have a 20 second conversation with someone else who may or may not even be in the same regional area that you are. IT staff definitely made heavy use of PTT for the same reason everyone else did. A lot of people already mentioned construction, maintenance, etc, but there is one other group that is likely clamoring for this.
